**IMPORTANT NEWS – THE GREAT ALBION ENDURO IS GOING ON A ONE-YEAR HIATUS FOR 2018.  DUE TO RIGOROUS DEMANDS ON THE ORGANIZERS’ SCHEDULE, WE WILL TAKE A ONE-YEAR BREAK AND BE BACK BIGGER THAN EVER FOR 2019!  SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE

Take one of Southern Ontario’s most popular riding centres, switch directions on half the trails, add some unique unmarked trails, AND add a chunk of pure singletrack in the Palgrave tract and several kms of rail trail, and what do you get? The GREAT Albion Enduro, of course!

Last year’s sunny skies and upwards of 320 people enjoyed heavenly riding, and and we’re hoping to build on our success for 2018!

We are excited to have this bike friendly brewery, The Second Wedge, on tap for the day! Enjoy one free beer after the event, then grab a few more for a great price and enjoy the evening, the band, and all the fun!! Check out their GREAT brewery HERE – stop in their amazing brewery after a ride in Durham Forest!!!

With a shorter  course of 25km, AND a 40km loop including portions of Palgrave, there is something for everyone! Add a 2-lap, 80+ km race, and you have a truly epic, 3.5 – 7 hour romp through some of the funnest – yes, funnest, trails in the GTA!

Note: we are keeping much of the trail direction a secret!! at 40kms, who has time to pre-ride anyways!!!

Get involved and sponsor this awesome event!

We are still looking for both title and more presenting sponsors for this event, but have already garnered support from the Chronos/GIRO team, Staran Cycles, and as always, Havy and the team from NORCO!

Thanks to our sponsors!

The Course and Pre-riding
Think Bacwards!  While some ride really well in reverse, and others not so much, so we’ll have an awesome mix, lots of taped off 2-way sections, and will do a nice 5km of mixed trail in Palgrave, – The short road between both destinations makes this a true off-road Enduro, with just enough flats for a break and a chance to look at the beautiful scenery! While we will be posting a rough course map – we are keeping the trail flow a secret – because, hey, there aren’t enough secrets anymore, and, we don’t want to encourage riding the opposite direction on the one-way trails at Albion. Palgraves trails have been carefully selected, with a liaise with local land users, to ensure minimal crossings and interactions with other users.

Afterparty, Petting Zoo and Ferris Wheels
Just wanted to get your attention – no carnival, but there is an afterparty with live entertainment!  We encourage everyone to camp out at Albion, and stick around for post race BBQ, a free Beer to those 19+ and more available for sale! The chalet will stay open as long as people are kicking around!

PRE-RIDING
No. There isn’t. It’s just that simple. Don’t try too hard to predict the course – just ride Albion and Palgrave an whole bunch, and you’ll have a good idea! The Albion portion wont be marked until Friday, September 14.

WEDNESDAY NIGHTS are BACK!!!

Superfly Racing will be passing on the torch after 19 great years – but will still swing by for the occassional ride and sponsor the odd BBQ!  While we’d have loved to make it 20 years, life has gotten too busy and we need to concentrate on our larger events, and family commitments (two daughters in diapers, eek)!

Corey Brioschi will be taking over the series, after doing most of the work anyways over the last few years!

  • We have a different course EACH week, accessing 3 starting points within Albion.  Courses are about 5km, and you do 3 laps or as many as you can before a 45 minute cut-off.
  • Albion’s trails are the perfect level for all riders, and our unique use of the trails makes it feel different every week!
  • A new, dedicated timer and a mix of Corey and Sean are running the show – and Alana should be around more this year if anyone wants to watch our baby!
  • Riders don’t have to spend their time in bottlenecks – with 80 riders on average, it’s not congested like some other weekly races.

Want to sponsor a BBQ night?  Enquire with Sean! sean@superflyracing.com

Ontario Cup 4, Sunday June 16 – Port Hope

Ontario Cup #4, Port Hope (brought to you by the Durham Shredders)

A BRAND NEW venue on the race circuit, we are excited to introduce you to yet another private venue and give you the opportunity to ride an otherwise unusable venue!

Camp Shredders features a fabulous venue complete with on-site Camping, a little pond and a pretty venue.  Not unlike Woodnewton, the trail system has been Tailor-made for racing!  Awesome spectatorship, some great, unique trails and just enough short grunt climbs to keep you on your toes, Port Hope is a great addition to the race calendar!  This venue cut it’s teeth with a fall cyclo-cross race c/o the Durham Shredders and Jon Barnes racing, and was a truly unique venue with the red carpet rolled out by the Shredders!  We are excited to work with the Shredders to bring you this exciting new event!

Pre-Riding

The Shredders will be hosting a pre-ride weekend two weeks prior to the event! Join us Sunday, June 2 for a day of pre-riding! You’re welcome to come and check out the trails and maybe even come camp the night before (we’re confirming details shortly)! We will also be open Friday, June 14, from noon til dark, and all day Saturday, June 15.  A standard pre-ride fee of $10 will apply.

Camping

This event site has a very unique feel – with a nearby pond, beautiful pastoral landscapes, and a huge fire pit, you’ll wanna park your RV for the weekend!  $5 per person/night gets you a great spot!  Hope to see y’all camped out and ready for a fun, family-friendly Ontario Cup Weekend!

Ontario Cup 3, Sunday June 9, Kelso Conservation Area

Ontario’s oldest race venue is back for 2019!  The site of last year’s provincial championships, Kelso’s location within the GTA makes it a great early season venue, with ample time to pre-ride and close to home for the majority of our O-Cup regulars!

The Course

There’s no getting around it – you’re gonna climb the escarpment.  BUT, once up, you’ve got super fast, limestone laden singletrack, and for 2019, we’re gonna make sure to add a few more technical features than were seen in the 2018 Provincials course!  We’ll spare your legs two full climbs per lap, but have a few tricks up our sleeve to shake things up and give you a unique riding experience!

Pre-Riding

As a full-time venue, we are able to design the course early and get a map online – so you can dial in the course up to 2 weeks in advance!  Park fees apply for all pre-riding times!

Ontario Cup 2 – Sunday, May 26, Albion Hills

Albion is back with our fun, Enduro (Long Course) format!  Come race the Endur-O-Cup!

This popular spot on the circuit is also a great early season test of fitness!  Our 25km loop is a nice departure from the standard multi-loop format, and the longer race for some means more early season endurance, while the times are just right for most Sport divisions.  Such iconics sections as “Pinecone Express”, “Handle with Care” and – the dreaded “Green Monster” climb are always highlights on this great race course!

Pre-riding

Pre-riding will be available Friday, May 17 of the long weekend, and remain open every day to the race!  The course will be pre-marked with standard black on white arrows, and will be fully marked and taped for Friday, May 24.

Camping

Albion Hills has phenomenal camping, including over 60 fully serviced sites – bring the RV, and make it a weekend!  The most popular spot where most cyclists congregate is Poplar Circle, with Deer Run also a good location.  The comaraderie of camping nearby really makes this a unique stop on the Ontario Cup circuit.
